Every day is different. One moment you’ll be assisting residents with dressing or supporting the nurses with medication, the next you might be attending a social activity or escorting to a hospital appointment. Our Care Assistants tell us they thrive on the team bond and camaraderie that this role offers and our residents value the little touches that make them feel special.

Working within one of our nursing care homes, as well as attending to the personal, spiritual and social needs of residents you’ll also be able to spot and resolve problems and come up with creative ideas and activities tailored to individuals’ needs and interests.

Random night pattern (agreed in advance) 2 or 3 nights per week.

Job Role:

  • Delivery of day-to-day care for residents as directed by the House Leads and Registered Nurses e.g. personal care, assisting with mobility needs, medications (as appropriate to role), infection control, supporting residents with dementia, and end of life care.
  • Encourage, facilitate and participate in social and spiritual activities to support the emotional needs and well-being of residents. Working with our volunteers, Wellbeing Coordinator and therapy teams to provide meaningful activities.
  •  Build a key worker relationship with named residents, to help new residents settle in and to support their families and friends.
  •  Assist with nutrition and food choices, serving drinks and assisting with eating/drinking.
  •  Maintain accurate records relating to care including e.g. care plans, incident reporting, changes to health and well-being, finances, health and safety and manual handling.
  •  Provide domestic assistance e.g. changing bed linen, sorting laundry, safe disposal of clinical waste, manage stock levels and equipment such as wheelchairs.
