Under the leadership of the Registered Manager/ Service Manager, you will work as part of a team to provide care for and support to the people who access our services and to help improve our services as we strive for ‘outstanding’ in our care home and excellent supported living services.

It is a great opportunity to build on your care and support skills, and to develop your skills in supervision, leadership and management. You will take responsibility for delivering specific areas of work under the guidance of the Registered Manager and/or Deputy Manager.

You will work with colleagues to directly deliver outstanding levels of support and care to people in both our care home and their own home. Delivered in welcoming, caring, supportive, enabling, stimulating and safe environments by well trained, competent, motivated and excited employees which enables the people we support to flourish. You will also provide hands-on advice, support and training to care workers/support workers during your day to day work, supporting the whole staff team to improve the quality of the services we provide.

Job Description & Responsibilities

To provide high quality support and care to people that the Thomas More Project provides services to.

To take a leadership role in supporting, training and developing colleagues whilst working alongside them, through supervision, team meetings and handovers, demonstrating and recognising excellent practice, and working to improve the quality of our services.

To support and develop Care workers/ support workers who you line-manage.

To take on specific management tasks as required.

Implement staff development processes including appraisal, supervision and personal development plans for staff you supervise. To use reflective practice in your own supervision and when supervising others. Where required implementing formal HR processes.

Recognising and acknowledging strengths, challenges and training needs, supporting staff to identify and work towards personal development goals. Having difficult conversations as required in a timely and respectful manner. Providing accurate written records in a timely manner.

Work with colleagues to continue development of a culture which reflects organisation values, ensures respect, is positive, collaborative, open and honest. Identify opportunities to make this an even better place to work.

Seeking advice and support at an early point from your manager/ HR as required.

To provide practical day-to-day support, guidance and training to care workers/support workers as they undertake their roles. To role-model excellent practice, to encourage sharing of ideas, to support staff to develop skills, to provide guidance in relation to policy, procedure and practice as appropriate.
